I’ve been working through a study in Habakkuk. It’s so funny because it was a study I had started months ago and only completed a couple days of it. When I picked it back up I didn’t realize what and just how much God had in there for me. Habakkuk is a book I really didn’t know to well. It still amazes me that God truly meets you where you’re at and when you read, you hear his voice speak to your heart so clearly.
Habakkuk cried out to the Lord not understanding. Confused, and feeling unheard and unseen by the Lord. He looked around at all that was wrong around him and begged God to step in. He stood in faith in what he knew of God’s unchanging character. And still, he prayed. And he waited.
Sometimes in the season of waiting we feel like God is not near. Like He doesn’t see or hear us, like He is just sitting by not doing anything. He is silent. But this, friends, is where we need to press in. Reminding ourselves of who God is. His character. He is sovereign, He is faithful, He is full of grace, He is good! And He is always near. When we don’t understand all that’s going on, whether in our own lives, or in this world, we need to become like the watchmen, simply watching and waiting. Being still before the Lord.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” – Isaiah‬ ‭55:8-9‬ ‭
All throughout scripture we see His hand at work. His promises fulfilled, His faithfulness to His people. We may not always see or understand things, but we can rest in knowing that He is always working in ways that only He can. His plans will always accomplish His purpose. He is making a way. So if you find yourself in a season of waiting, stand in faith that He is working behind the scenes.

He has not forgotten you.
