Serenity.

The process of grief and healing have stages. Ups and downs, twists and turns. Stumbles and bumps. Each playing a specific role; cleaning, pruning, making new again. We don’t ask the bush while pruning if it hurts, because we know that in time it will become more beautiful, more full, bearing more beautiful flowers or fruit than ever before.

Just like the bush, we too need to be pruned. God doesn’t allow these things to hurt us, but He sees the end result. He knows which branches are holding us back that need to be cut away in order to give new growth, new fruit and new beauty. He loves us far too much to leave us neglected with useless overgrowth and dead branches.

When the pruning season is done. The pain has been felt. The lessons have been hard learned. We find ourselves in a place of quiet serenity. Hope on the horizon, like the sun peeking through the clouds again after a cloudy day. You begin to feel peace deep in your soul again. Free. A place where you can twirl in that pretty dress, laugh with full joy again. You feel lighter and begin to enjoy the work God has done.

Much like this little girl in her new dress, feeling so pretty and full of life.

This is where God wants us. Allow Him to prune away all that He can. He desires us to be free in Him, loved, bursting with new beautiful growth.

“Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.”

Isaiah 43:19
